NEW YORK – Spyridoula Fotinis joined the Assembly of Bishops staff as the Director of Inter-Parish Associations.
Spyridoula is uniquely qualified for the position having served as a member of the Assembly of Bishops’ Secretariat and liaison for the Church & Society Committee for the past three years. She previously held the position of Coordinator of Programs for the Department of Inter-Orthodox, Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. During that time, she focused on bridging the work of the Department on social issues at the United Nations, including homelessness and care for the environment, with Orthodox Christian faithful throughout the United States. She also served as Assistant Secretary for the Green Attica Symposium in 2018. Spyridoula’s ministry has been shaped by formative ministries of the Church such as CrossRoad, Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF), Youth Equipped to Serve (FOCUS YES), and many more.
Spyridoula has a bachelor’s degree in international studies and sociology from CUNY – The City College of New York and a master’s degree in social sciences, with a focus on social policy and homelessness, from the University of Helsinki (Finland). She is also a commissioner for the World Council of Churches Youth Commission and the World Mission and Evangelism Commission.
Upon appointment to her role, Spyridoula commented, "I am grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve Christ and His Church. It is her hope that all the ministries of the Assembly, especially the Inter-Parish Associations, will catalyze parishes and faithful to strengthen and to grow their witness of Christ’s love in the world."
