Schedule of Programs for December 2005
12/03/2005 Topic: CS Lewis’ Approach to Literature
Guest: Matushka Jenny Shroedel
The upcoming release of the motion picture, The Lion, The Witch and the
Wardrobe is stirring interest in the author of a classic children’s book
series. Join Fr. Chris and Emmy as they speak with Matushka Jenny
Shroedel about CS Lewis’ approach to literature and how Christian
undertones prevail in his writings. Be sure to tune in to a very
enlightening programming.
12/10/2005 Topic: Road to the Ministry
Guest: Fr. George Hill
Many of us have followed a different road to Orthodoxy; some were born
it, others have married into the Orthodox Christian faith, while others
have truly sought to find the true faith that they have found in
Orthodoxy. Fr. Chris and Emmy welcome Fr. George Hill, a son of Baptist
Minister, an American Soldier and an Orthodox Priest who traveled a long
way to get where he is at today. Fr. George will share with us his
experience and journey to Orthodoxy, where he then followed the road to
the priesthood in the Orthodox Church.
12/17/2005 Topic: Extending the Light
Guests: Fr. Chris Metropulos and Charles Powell
You have listened on the internet; you have read the newsletters, now
how about sharing the blessings of Orthodox Christian media with your
community. Come Receive the Light is a wonderful resource to help your
local parish fulfill its mission to teach and share the faith. Be sure
to listen when Father Chris speaks with our own Development Director,
Chuck Powell to learn how to bring CRTL to a local radio station in your
town. In addition, Fr. Chris and Chuck will discuss the materials and
resources needed and ideas on how your local parish can have a
successful “Share the Light Sunday” scheduled for all Orthodox Christian
parishes of the SCOBA jurisdictions on January 15, 2006.
12/24/2005 Topic: Christmas
Guest: Fr. Chris Metropulos
Christmas is one of the most celebrated holidays in the United States.
Join Fr. Chris and Emmy as they discuss the rhythm of the Orthodox
Christian church. In celebrating feast days with consistency we can see
how the Invisible has become Visible for our salvation on this day.
12/31/2005 Topic: What St. Basil did for Christianity and the World
Guest: Dr. Dimitri Katos
On January 1 of each year, the Orthodox faithful commemorate St. Basil
the Great. Known as a fearless champion of the faith, St. Basil is also
remembered as one of the three great Hierarchs of our church along with
St. John Chrysostom and St. Gregory the Theologian. Join us when Dr.
Katos discusses the life of St. Basil the Great and what he did for
Christianity and the world.
