Frantzes Return to Romania in Time for Christmas
St. Augustine, FL (December 21, 2005) - After eleven thousand miles of
traveling in the United States, it’s nice to be home for Christmas.
That’s the opinion of Floyd and Ancuta Frantz, Orthodox Christian
Mission Center missionaries to Romania, who left the Mission Center on
Friday, December 16, for their return journey to Cluj, Romania.
“Two and a half months, eleven thousand miles, 22 churches, 35 beds, one
borrowed car,” recounted Ancuta, a native of Romania. “It will be good
to get back to more familiar surroundings. I miss the snow.”
The Frantzes arrived in the United States on September 29 to raise the
necessary financial support for themselves and the ministries they
supervise in Romania: the St. Dimitrie Project for addiction treatment
and education (Floyd), and the Protection of the Theotokos Family Day
Center for the prevention of child abandonment (Ancuta). “We were
successful raising our personal support,” says Floyd, “but we could use
additional funds for our ministries. I’m grateful for all the people we
met and the relationships that were built during our time in the States.
It’s nice to know so many are interested in - and praying for - our
work.”
One highlight of the trip was the borrowed car, a 2002 Subaru. “A former
OCMC mission team member to Romania, Bob Born, lent us the car,” Floyd
recalls. “It really helped solve a lot of logistics problems because we
weren’t at the mercy of plane schedules and rental car availability. We
could flex our schedule when necessary to take advantage of
opportunities to meet with people as we drove around the country.”
Their travels took them from Boston to Santa Barbara to St. Augustine
and many places in between. But now they’re back in Romania, ready to
start ministering again to those they have faithfully served the past
several years.
