The Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC) Welcomes a New Development Director
September 15, 2006
The Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC), St. Augustine, FL - The Orthodox Christian Mission Center welcomes a native Floridian, John-Paul Conners, to the Mission Center staff. He was raised Orthodox in an atypical Greek-German-Irish-American household. He has spent his life in the US , Greece , and Germany , plus other countries working as a strategy consultant and business developer on major projects.
John-Paul earned his Bachelor’s degree in Marketing at the University of Central Florida , Orlando . Additionally, he studied German and French at the Geothe Institut[e] and Berlitz, respectfully, both located in Düsseldorf , Germany during the summer terms. His first overseas assignment was as a Product Manager, where he reversed a downward Sales trend by developing relations with three major, German distributors and by training, mentoring, and managing a 15-person sales force.
While earning his MBA at the University of LaVerne - Athens, Greece campus, John-Paul was recruited by one of his professors – a Director with the O rganization of T elecommunications for E llada ( OTE ) working in the consulting subsidiary ( OTE Consulting) – to establish and lead an International Department. Under John-Paul’s leadership, the team’s numerous accomplishments included the successful solicitation and procurement of multiple high-profile projects.
After years of working in the global arena, John-Paul returned to Florida to assist a life-long friend with his sole proprietorship by formulating a business plan, creating marketing collateral, developing vendor relationships, and developing business by penetrating new markets.
More recently, he followed a philanthropic calling to “make a difference” in the real world vis-à-vis the corporate world and began volunteering for the American Heart Association. His volunteering efforts led to a permanent position as Account Director for Fundraising in the metro-Orlando area. On a daily basis, he met with top local business and political leaders to further the cause of saving lives by securing support for various programs.
With a desire to work within his faith, he came to the Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC) and assumed his new role as our Director of Development.
