The Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC) Welcomes a New “Kidd” in Town as Agape Canister & SAMP Coordinator
October 20, 2006
The Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC), St. Augustine, FL - A
little play on words, but the Orthodox Christian Mission Center welcomes
our newest staff member, Kenneth D. Kidd as the new AGAPE / SAMP
Program Coordinator. Having participated in the 2003 and 2004 Mission
Teams to Alaska, Kenny was drawn to learn more about mission
initiatives. When the opportunity to work for the Mission Center arose,
it was an opportunity he could not pass up.
Kenny grew up in Charleston, West Virginia, and attended Appalachian
State University in Boone, North Carolina where he obtained a Bachelor
of Science in Geography as well as Community Planning. Kenny later
completed his Master of Social Work Degree in 2002 and has since worked
for Hospitality House of Asheville, a homeless crisis services provider
in Asheville, North Carolina. As Assistant Director/Street Outreach
Coordinator, his work included everything from street outreach and
crisis intervention to program development and grant writing. His work
in Asheville, required recognizing problems or gaps in social services,
and then, encouraging change through team building and public
education. He learned the importance of seeing each situation and
individual as unique, without ever passing judgment. “I saw that it was
important to see the divine spark within each person and situation,”
Kenny stated.
With his leadership skills and compassion, Kenny will continue the
successful philanthropic projects of AGAPE, and support Mission Priests
around the world through the SAMP program. He is aware that each priest,
church, and country has a unique set of circumstances. Kenny will
assist the programs and individuals on a larger, global scale. He will
network with people across the United States and assist priests and
communities to become more involved in these worthy programs.
Kenny asks for your prayers as he begins this position. God grant him many years in His service at OCMC!
